Paving
Paths, patios and courtyards laid on a base that holds up.

How does paving work?
Paving is mostly excavation and base preparation with a nice surface on top. Get the base and the falls right and paving stays flat and drains properly for decades; get them wrong and it rocks, sinks and puddles within a season.
We lay patios, courtyards, paths, steps and pool surrounds in sandstone, concrete pavers, brick and natural stone, with falls set to move water away from the house.
Cutting is done to keep lines clean around edges, drains and garden beds.

FAQ
Paving, your questions answered
How long before we can use a new paved area?
Usually a few days, depending on the base and jointing method and the weather. We'll give you a timeframe on the day rather than a guess up front.
Will the pavers move or sink?
Not if the base is right. Most sunken and rocking paving comes from an under-prepared or poorly compacted base, which is where most of the work in a paving job actually goes.
How often should I have this done?
It depends on the job and the season, lawns and hedges want a regular rhythm through the warmer months, while bigger garden work is usually a once or twice a year thing. We will suggest an interval that suits your yard, and on a Golden Circle Membership plan we track the timing so it never gets forgotten.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. As long as we can get to the yard and to an outdoor tap if the job needs water, plenty of our residential work is done while you're out, we confirm everything beforehand and send photos when it's finished.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, Golden Landscaping is fully insured, and we're owner-operated, so the person who quotes your job is the person responsible for the result.
Is the quote really free and fixed?
Yes. Quotes are free and fixed, you'll know the price before we start, with no hourly meter and no surprises on the invoice. A quick call with a couple of photos is usually all we need.
Do you take the green waste away?
Yes. Clippings, prunings and garden debris can be mulched back where that suits, left in your green bin, or taken away with us, just tell us which you would prefer when you book.
