Native Garden Design
A garden built from species that actually belong on your soil.

How does native garden design work?
A native garden works with your climate instead of against it. We choose species suited to your local rainfall, soil type and sun exposure, so once they're established they need far less water, feeding and fussing than an exotic bed.
That covers bed layout, soil preparation for local conditions, plant selection across natives that flower, screen or ground-cover depending on what the space needs, and a straightforward establishment watering plan.
It works as a full front or backyard re-plan, or as a native section added into an existing garden.

FAQ
Native Garden Design, your questions answered
Are native gardens really lower maintenance?
Once established, yes, species matched to your local rainfall and soil need far less watering and feeding than exotic beds. The first year of establishment still needs regular watering while roots take hold.
Can natives work with an existing exotic garden?
Usually. We can design a native bed as its own section or blend natives through an existing garden, matched to sun, soil and what's already thriving there.
How often should I have this done?
It depends on the job and the season, lawns and hedges want a regular rhythm through the warmer months, while bigger garden work is usually a once or twice a year thing. We will suggest an interval that suits your yard, and on a Golden Circle Membership plan we track the timing so it never gets forgotten.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. As long as we can get to the yard and to an outdoor tap if the job needs water, plenty of our residential work is done while you're out, we confirm everything beforehand and send photos when it's finished.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, Golden Landscaping is fully insured, and we're owner-operated, so the person who quotes your job is the person responsible for the result.
Is the quote really free and fixed?
Yes. Quotes are free and fixed, you'll know the price before we start, with no hourly meter and no surprises on the invoice. A quick call with a couple of photos is usually all we need.
Do you take the green waste away?
Yes. Clippings, prunings and garden debris can be mulched back where that suits, left in your green bin, or taken away with us, just tell us which you would prefer when you book.
