Mulching

The cheapest way to cut weeding and watering in half.

Mulching, Golden Landscaping, Sydney

How does mulching work?

Mulch is the highest-value thing you can do for a garden bed. It holds moisture in through summer, keeps soil temperature stable, suppresses most weed germination and slowly feeds the soil as it breaks down.

We weed and tidy the beds first, mulching over weeds just delays them, then spread to an even depth, keeping it back off trunks, stems and paths.

We can supply and deliver the mulch or spread a load you've already got sitting in the driveway.

FAQ

Mulching, your questions answered

How deep should mulch be?

Around 50 to 75mm is the usual target, enough to suppress weeds and hold moisture, without smothering plants. We keep mulch pulled back from trunks and stems so they don't rot.

Which mulch should I use?

Bark and woodchip suit most garden beds, sugar cane and lucerne break down faster and feed the soil, and pebble suits low-maintenance areas. We'll recommend based on your beds and what you want it to look like.

How often should I have this done?

It depends on the job and the season, lawns and hedges want a regular rhythm through the warmer months, while bigger garden work is usually a once or twice a year thing. We will suggest an interval that suits your yard, and on a Golden Circle Membership plan we track the timing so it never gets forgotten.

Do I need to be home while you work?

Not necessarily. As long as we can get to the yard and to an outdoor tap if the job needs water, plenty of our residential work is done while you're out, we confirm everything beforehand and send photos when it's finished.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, Golden Landscaping is fully insured, and we're owner-operated, so the person who quotes your job is the person responsible for the result.

Is the quote really free and fixed?

Yes. Quotes are free and fixed, you'll know the price before we start, with no hourly meter and no surprises on the invoice. A quick call with a couple of photos is usually all we need.

Do you take the green waste away?

Yes. Clippings, prunings and garden debris can be mulched back where that suits, left in your green bin, or taken away with us, just tell us which you would prefer when you book.
