The Inner West is terrace country, so the gardens are small, walled and mostly paved, courtyards behind Newtown, Balmain, Leichhardt and Marrickville terraces, narrow front strips, and side passages barely wide enough to carry a mower through. Shade from shared walls and neighbouring buildings is the main constraint, and the soil is often compacted clay with old building rubble in it.
That makes it detail work: keeping a small lawn sharp, clipping screening hedges before they take the whole courtyard, potted and raised-bed planting where there's no ground to dig, and paving, decking or garden bed design when a courtyard is better rebuilt than mown. Is my terrace courtyard too small to be worth a gardener?
No, small courtyards are a lot of our Inner West work. There's usually a strip of lawn, a hedge or screening plants, a few beds or pots and some paving, and keeping all of it sharp on a regular visit takes less time and costs less than most people expect.
Can you get equipment through a narrow terrace side passage?
Yes. Most Inner West access is a narrow side passage or straight through the house, and we bring gear sized for it. Where nothing fits through, we can work from the front and carry green waste out rather than leaving it behind.
Are you fully insured?
